About M-D Stats
David Plescia
Principal Statistician
MS, Mechanical Engineering · Member, American Statistical Association
M-D Stats is the practice of David Plescia, a statistician and engineer with more than 25 years of experience applying statistics to medical device and pharmaceutical product and process data. Trained as a mechanical engineer, he has spent his career at the intersection of manufacturing and measurement — where the quality of a product depends on understanding, and controlling, variation.
That dual perspective shapes how he works. He has helped R&D, quality, manufacturing, and regulatory teams design experiments, validate processes, build control and sampling strategies, and demonstrate capability and reliability — always with an eye toward the evidence a reviewer will ask to see. The result is statistics that are rigorous, but never academic for its own sake.
He founded M-D Stats to give device and drug manufacturers direct access to that expertise — senior-level statistical support, focused entirely on product and process data, without the overhead of a large firm.
Practical
Analysis grounded in how products are actually made, measured, and inspected.
Defensible
Documented methods and assumptions that stand up in audits and submissions.
Clear
Findings explained so every stakeholder can act on them with confidence.
Numbers only build confidence when the method behind them is sound and the meaning is clear. My job is to make both true — so you can make decisions, and defend them.
— David Plescia
